Wild Mountain Residence
Tulsa, OK
2020

Nestled in the Osage Hills, northwest of Tulsa, Oklahoma, The Wild Mountain Residence is a 2,000-square-foot home designed to harmonize with its stunning natural surroundings. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom home, along with its 400-square-foot studio, is a celebration of regional vernacular and thoughtful design, crafted to serve as both a sanctuary and a space for gathering.

Inspired by the timeless beauty of a mission-era basilica church, the home’s layout is defined by a striking sandstone apse wall, which separates the private and public spaces. All the sandstone used in the construction is native to the site and surrounding hills, meticulously laid in the traditional “Ozark Giraffe” masonry pattern—an homage to the local building heritage.

The spacious, open-plan kitchen, dining, and living areas are designed with entertaining in mind. The Ozark Giraffe masonry wall serves as a powerful visual backdrop, while the high-sloped ceiling creates an expansive acoustic volume, perfect for both quiet reflection and vibrant social gatherings. With its seamless connection to the landscape and emphasis on craftsmanship, The Wild Mountain Residence is a home not only for living but for performing, creating, and connecting.
